Quantum computing, from zero

Seven short lessons, one a day by email. Start with what a qubit is and finish with what quantum computers can and can’t do today. Plain English, no maths needed, no hype.

What you’ll learn

  1. Day 1

What a quantum computer is, and what it isn’t

A different kind of machine, not a faster laptop.

  2. Day 2

    Qubits and superposition

What a qubit is, and what “superposition” really means.

  3. Day 3

    Measurement and interference

Reading a qubit changes it, and interference steers the odds.

  4. Day 4

    Entanglement

Linked qubits, what they’re good for, and what they can’t do.

  5. Day 5

Gates, circuits and how a program runs

Circuits, gates and shots: what happens when you press run.

  6. Day 6

    Where quantum speed-ups come from

Search, factoring and simulation, and where the evidence is thin.

  7. Day 7

What quantum computers can and can’t do today

Real but small and noisy: where things honestly stand.

Each lesson takes two or three minutes to read and ends with one to three videos from the Learn library, if you want to go deeper.

Good to know

Is it free?
Yes. The emails carry no ads, and there’s nothing to buy.
Do I need maths or physics?
No. You won’t need anything beyond simple arithmetic.
What happens after Day 7?
The course stops. We won’t add you to any other list. Our weekly news email is separate, and you can sign up for it on its own.
Can I stop early?
Yes. Every lesson has an unsubscribe link, and leaving the course doesn’t affect any other email from us.
